About Sarina
Knowledgeable education professional with multiple years of experience in afterschool program coordination, family engagement, and student outreach. Experience includes 1 year of remote teaching, 1 year of SAT/ACT math tutoring, 5+ years of childcare/youth development work, 2 years of afterschool tutoring and 2 years of afterschool program coordination. Currently employed full time at the California Teachers Association. Have you felt like math isn't for you? That you'll "never" be able to understand certain concepts? Math can be an intimidating subject, but I'm here to encourage you in your mathematics journey! I believe in tailored instruction: establishing a baseline of understanding and working up from each student's strengths. By approaching math concepts with narrative, relatable metaphors, and alternative strategies, I desire to make this subject more accessible and engaging. Showing students how to not only develop academic skills, but their problem-solving skills as well is my utmost privilege. I strive to make every student feel seen and met where they are at, without shame or judgment. I specialize in foundational algebra and geometry.
