About Brittany
I am an educator with ten years experience working across various grade levels and subjects. I hold a B.A. in K-12 Education and Spanish as well as a M.A. in Learning Disabilities . I currently teach Math/Special Education at a high school in Newark, NJ. I also have previously taught Spanish at the secondary level and Reading at the elementary level. I am well-versed in education law and spent four years writing IEPs as a special education case manager before returning to the classroom as a teacher.
Some of my areas of expertise include executive functioning techniques, Algebra I/II, grammatical Spanish, phonological awareness, reading strategies for students with dyslexia, SAT practice, and essay writing. I am also able to complete educational testing for families seeking potential special education services for their child.

Spanish
When teaching Spanish, my lessons are visual and hands-on! I begin by reviewing vocabulary with a game-like approach using visuals and quick thinking. Second, grammar knowledge is assessed by identifying correct conjugations of words. I also utilize different memorization techniques to help memorize the conjugations. Last, vocabulary and grammar are combined to practice reciting and writing meaningful sentences.
