About Camila
I built a career as a telenovela actor for years before shifting toward teaching, and that dramatic, performance-driven background shapes almost everything about how I teach Spanish today. Eleven years into teaching now, I've worked with about two hundred thirty students, many of them drawn specifically to genuine confidence and expressive speaking alongside pure grammatical accuracy. My acting background gives me unusually direct insight into confident, expressive communication, insight that purely academic language teachers simply cannot offer their students. I work particularly well with students whose real blocker is confidence and self-consciousness rather than pure grammatical knowledge alone. My teaching style is dramatic, expressive, and genuinely engaging, built on real professional acting experience rather than purely academic language training alone. I have guided numerous students toward genuinely confident, expressive Spanish, drawing on real performance experience rather than generic classroom assumptions about language learning. Students consistently tell me our lessons feel completely different from anything they've tried before, in the best possible way for their confidence. I take genuine pride in watching a quiet, careful student suddenly find themselves speaking freely and expressively, often for the first time in years. After eleven years, I remain genuinely convinced that performance unlocks real fluency for most people.

My years working as a telenovela actor taught me that genuine emotional expression and confident delivery matter enormously, and that principle shapes how I teach Spanish today. Lessons often involve dramatic scenes and roleplay, since acting out real, emotionally engaging scenarios naturally builds confident, expressive spoken Spanish far faster than passive study alone. Vocabulary grows around emotion, drama, and genuine expression, since dramatic material naturally carries rich, memorable vocabulary many textbooks fail to properly convey. Grammar gets taught through dialogue and dramatic script work, showing exactly how structures function in genuine, natural spoken Spanish rather than artificial textbook sentences. I encourage students to fully commit to roleplay scenarios, stepping into a character the way I once did professionally, since that commitment genuinely frees people from self-consciousness. Listening practice uses real telenovela and film clips, exposing students to natural, expressive Spanish delivered by working actors and professional performers. I keep lessons dramatic and engaging, closer to acting rehearsal than a formal classroom lesson, since that atmosphere genuinely helps students take confident speaking risks. I encourage genuinely big, expressive attempts over quiet, careful ones, since the biggest blocker I see is fear of sounding silly, not actual lack of ability. Every lesson leaves students with language that feels genuinely alive and expressive.
