About Gabriella

Hi! I’m Gabi, a former Division I water polo player, swim instructor, and youth coach with a lifelong background in aquatics and athletics.

I grew up swimming and playing a variety of sports before competing in water polo at the collegiate level. Since then, I’ve continued working with young athletes through swim instruction, water polo coaching, and youth development programs. I’ve worked with swimmers ranging from beginners learning to feel comfortable in the water to athletes developing their skills for competitive swimming and water polo.

As a teacher and coach, I believe the best learning happens when students feel comfortable, challenged, and excited to improve. I’m patient and encouraging, but I also care deeply about strong technique and building good fundamentals that swimmers can carry with them as they progress.

Outside of the pool, I have a background in economics, public health, and program management, and I currently coach collegiate water polo in New York City.

I’d love to help you and/or your child become more confident in the water, develop strong swimming skills, and—most importantly—have fun while learning!

About the lesson

My swim lessons are designed to be fun, encouraging, and technically focused, with an emphasis on building confidence and developing strong fundamentals from the start.

I work with swimmers of all ages and skill levels, from beginners who are learning to feel comfortable in the water to more experienced swimmers looking to refine technique, improve efficiency, or develop competitive skills.

Each lesson is personalized to the swimmer’s goals and current ability. We’ll build skills progressively—starting with the fundamentals and gradually introducing more advanced techniques as the swimmer becomes comfortable. I focus on body position, breathing, stroke technique, coordination, and overall water confidence while keeping lessons engaging and positive.

With my background as a former D1 water polo player, swim instructor, and youth coach, I understand that every swimmer learns differently. My goal is to create an environment where swimmers feel comfortable making mistakes, building confidence, and seeing their progress over time.

Whether your goal is to become more comfortable in the water, learn the fundamentals, improve your strokes, or train for competitive swimming, I’ll meet you where you are and help you build from there.
