Founder of BBALLHEADSNYC and 92nd Street Y coach offering youth group basketball training (indoors) in NYC and private training near Stratford, CT.

I met James at equinox sports club in the upper west side of Manhattan. At the time, he was a basketball trainer and I was a member. James stood out to me for his positive attitude and desire to coach and help others. We quickly became friends, and then later coworkers after I became a trainer as well.

James has always stood out to me with his basketball knowledge, skill on the court, but above all else his integrity and professionalism. I’ve taken my own son to his youth clinics and I’ve played a lot of basketball together with James over the years.

I wouldn’t hesitate to contact James if you want a skilled, professional, and respectful coach to train yourself or your kids to play basketball at a high level with integrity and respect.

James is an excellent Super Tutor. His ability to instill and boost the confidence of the youth is truly admirable. I sought James out to tutor my nephew in basketball. My nephew seemed to have a knack for playing but did not truly believe in himself. I initially booked James for one-on-one sessions, but after the second session, James was able to encourage my nephew to play with his peers, which my nephew did at school. My nephew felt as if his classmates' skill set wasn’t challenging to him, so James and I were able to convince him to join James' group sessions. Let me tell you, my nephew really shined in these group sessions. That was 1.5 years ago, and my nephew is now on the JV team at his school, with considerations for varsity next year as a sophomore. I truly appreciate James for helping my nephew to refine his skills and encouraging him to break out of his shell. I have not only seen improvements in his game but also in his confidence as a young man.

I met James at the 92y may center in New York City. His basketball knowledge and skill training is incomparable. James is an inspiring basketball ball coach who cares about teaching the game of basketball the right way. When he observes how his students play basketball, he is looking for strengths and weaknesses. He will then dedicate his time to strengthening what you need to work on and continue to improve what you are good at. The best part about learning from James is that you will always be able to learn something new.

I highly recommend James as a basketball coach due to his consistent reliability and dedication to his students' success. He has a genuine passion for the game and takes the time to understand each individual’s strengths and areas for improvement. James is always punctual, well-prepared for every session, and creates a positive, encouraging environment that fosters both skill development and personal growth. His ability to build trust comes from his clear communication, patience, and fair approach to teaching—he treats every player with respect, which makes him stand out as a dependable and trustworthy coach. You can count on James to always have your best interests at heart, whether you’re a beginner or aiming for advanced techniques.

James has been training me in basketball for 3-4 years now, and he’s like an older brother to me- in addition to helping me become light years better as a basketball player. He is a great teacher and through his instruction I’ve sharpened my technique and understanding of the game. I used to be lost on the court, no clue where I should be or what I should be doing both on and off the ball. Thanks to James’ patience and his attention to detail I was able to become a winning basketball player.
