She creatively evolves the Reflective Meditation practice with a feministic, power-informed, collaborative bent. Along with a dear dharma friend she co-authored a book – Reflective Meditation: Cultivating Kindness and Curiosity in the Buddha’s Company. A master of Qi Gong, Linda also created a best-selling, four-part instructive Qi Gong video series called Discovering Chi: Energy Exercises (offered freely on the Sati Sangha website).

Sometimes we don’t know what we’re thinking about or feeling until we’re asked. Reflective Meditation is an asking practice. After we meditate by sitting relatively still and being quiet, we ask ourselves what happened? We try to be curious and kind with our experience. We take a few notes, or journal extensively. Sharing our meditation with others can show what we may be missing. Meeting individually with a teacher has always been a way that Buddhist teachings were passed on. Maybe because it was such an oral tradition, that tendency has stuck. Being aware of our experience is one thing but speaking about it to someone else is another. Throws our inner world out into the open. But not with just anyone. With someone who we trust can catch it. Throw and catch, like baseball. Let’s be clear, I don't know much about baseball, but the analogy I can continue with is that the roles are different when you pitch and when you catch. When you meet with a teacher individually, you’ll be in the role of pitcher and I'll catch. I’ve been trained to catch. Individual sessions offer an opportunity of meditating, listening to yourself, and being listened to when you speak authentically. It’s vulnerable. We don’t really know how someone will respond to us, and what are the expectations. It takes some courage to bring your inner world to a catcher. I want to acknowledge that before you even step up to the plate!
