About Connor
Hi, I’m Connor. I’m particularly interested in maths, technology and understanding how people learn. I enjoy building projects, solving problems and finding simple ways to explain ideas that initially seem difficult.
I’m patient, approachable and happy to explain a topic from different angles until it makes sense. I know maths can feel frustrating when lessons move too quickly or the foundations are unclear, so I create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
My aim is not only to improve each student’s results, but also to help them become a more confident and independent learner.

My lessons are built around understanding rather than memorising steps. I first identify any gaps, explain each idea clearly using worked examples, and then help the student apply it independently. I use evidence-based techniques such as active recall, spaced practice and mixing different types of problems, helping students remember what they learn and recognise which method to use in an exam.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes. We usually begin with a short review, focus on one or two key topics, practise questions together and finish with independent problems to check understanding. I adapt the pace and style of each lesson to the individual student rather than following the same approach for everyone.
As the founder of Smartr, I have a strong interest in effective learning and making difficult ideas easier to understand. My online lessons are aimed at GCSE and A-level maths students, whether they need help catching up, improving their confidence or working towards a higher grade.
