About Mohammed
Hi, I’m Mohammed! I’m a fourth-year medical student at the University of British Columbia and a Biological Sciences graduate from Brock University, where I received the Governor General’s Silver Medal and the Dean’s Medal for Mathematics and Science.
I have extensive experience helping students improve their grades, strengthen their understanding, and build confidence. I have taught high school courses in mathematics, science, and Grade 12 physics, alongside providing small-group and one-on-one tutoring privately and through MathClinic and Inspiration Learning Centre.
I have worked with students struggling with foundational concepts and those seeking enrichment or higher achievement. I also helped lead a high school peer-tutoring initiative, collaborating with teachers to identify students needing support and connect them with suitable tutors. These experiences taught me to identify gaps in understanding, adapt my explanations, and help students develop effective study habits.
For students preparing for the MCAT, I bring firsthand experience from scoring 514 with section highs across those attempts of 130 in Chemical and Physical Foundations, 131 in Biological and Biochemical Foundations, and 130 in Psychological and Social Foundations.
I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. You can expect a patient, approachable, and organized tutor who provides clear explanations, constructive feedback, and lessons tailored to your goals. My aim is to help you succeed in your current coursework while building the skills and confidence to learn independently.

My approach follows a clear sequence: teach, demonstrate, practise, review, and provide feedback. I aim to help students understand why an answer is correct and develop the confidence to solve similar problems independently.
I adapt my teaching to each student’s background, goals, and progress. Depending on the concept, I use diagrams, pictures, verbal explanations, written summaries, analogies, and worked examples. For instance, I might draw a biological pathway, connect a physics principle to an everyday situation, or break a chemistry calculation into manageable steps. We then check understanding through questions and practice, adjusting the explanation when something is unclear.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review and discussion of what the student finds challenging. I explain the key concepts, demonstrate examples, and guide the student through practice before moving toward independent work. We finish by reviewing mistakes, identifying what needs further attention, and setting clear next steps. My feedback addresses both subject knowledge and the student’s reasoning process.
As a fourth-year UBC medical student, Biological Sciences graduate, and Governor General’s Silver Medal recipient, I bring a strong academic foundation alongside classroom, small-group, and one-on-one teaching experience. Having scored 514 on the MCAT twice, I also understand the demands of preparing for a challenging exam.
I offer lessons in MCAT sciences, high school mathematics and science, and introductory university biology, biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology. Whether you are building foundational knowledge, working through difficult coursework, or preparing for an exam, I tailor lessons to your level and learning goals.
