About Francis
As much as I enjoy the process of making art, I equally enjoy what the fruits of understanding provide - the ability to teach others. While attending Grand Central Atelier, many students come to me for clarity, rewording, or examples of foundational concepts. Because of the way I have to process information before I am able to understand it for myself, I am able to explain concepts in a very granular, literal, and digestible manner. I am proud to be able to provide this information to my fellow classmates, and I am very eager to disseminate this understanding to others who are either passionate about art themselves, or are simply looking to dip their toe into the academic art world!

A solid foundation is paramount to the process of building artistic ability! I first focus on academic exercises such as Bargue plates, and blocking-in from life. Then, the focus turns to cast drawings with an emphasis on the conceptual understanding of form. After this series of exercises are completed, we move on to painting from life!
My lessons can also be tailored to the individual, in instances where a strong desire to focus on portraiture, working from photography, or even wanting to paint animals come up, for example.
I cater to individuals as young as 12 years old, on a case-by-case basis. If there is an earnest desire to learn, I am happy to teach anybody!
