About Jack

I'm a 2nd year Warwick triple honours undergraduate in Economics, Philosophy and Psychology. I'm a 25 y/o mature student and I was a fully qualified mechanic before deciding to go back to school. I don't have any official teaching qualifications, but over the last couple of years of tutoring part-time, I've been able to really help a range of students, showing my tutees how to break things down and make them simple. That's what I offer. I'm not a trained teacher, but I show my tutees methods that have worked for me, and which are working for others too.

My teaching is based upon two founding principles. Practice makes perfect and anyone can wrap their head around anything, if they can discover why it makes sense to them. I aim to help my tutees do this. I don't have a particularly "maths-y" brain myself. But, the way I deal with all the complex mathematics, statistics and economic theory on my course is by breaking it down, and figuring out what, for example, all the confusing notation in a formula fundamentally means. This way, I can discover how a formula or concept intuitively makes sense. I bring this methodology of self-discovery to all my tutees, helping to turn even the hardest problems into a piece of cake.
