About Chelsea

My name is Chelsea, I’m a 22 year old university student studying languages (French). I love learning and speaking languages because I love puzzles and that’s really what learning a new language is - a puzzle to be solved.

After completing a summer internship teaching French at GCSE level, I want to use my new knowledge of teaching to help others progress their French language skills. Tutoring is a job that I've been doing since I was at GCSE level myself and after 5 years experience I am able to combine my education and life experiences to create effective French lessons and teaching approaches.

I recently completed an exchange year in Montréal in Canada where I had the amazing opportunity to study at a French speaking university to immerse myself in a Francophone setting. I teach French language but French culture is just as important when it comes to speaking and understanding this beautiful language.

About the lesson

I have 5 years of tutoring experience, a completed teaching internship and I’m currently studying English literature and French at university where I have perfected my language learning skills. When teaching a language, I like to focus on contextualisation (using the language in real life scenarios), personalisation (relating language to the student) as well as active recall to perfect memorisation.

I usually offer lessons of 30 mins - 1 hour as it will be split between introducing new language, drilling new language and using the new language learnt to create something new.

These lessons are appropriate for any level, I can start with the basics including grammar, speaking, writing etc., and work up to a solid B2/C1 level with patience and determination.
