About Sabina

I'm a British student in my final year of BA French and English literature at the University of Westminster.

As a first-time tutor, my aim is to provide tailored lessons that will include opportunities to openly discuss topics depending on the subject and express them on paper. I will be using a variety of resources to keep sessions engaging yet informative. I believe a growth mindset is key in realising one’s own potential and I’d want students to continue working on their subjects for themselves and not just for me or their teacher. I will guide my students through their subject of study in a pragmatic way to ensure that they confidently understand the subject and are able to apply what they’ve learned according to the exam board’s specifications.

I’ve volunteered in a nursery, primary school and secondary school as a teaching assistant. My most recent placement was at Westminster Academy in 2018, where I supported French and English classes from years 7 to 10, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and it was an invaluable experience. I’ve also organised English speaking workshops at a local library once a month during my year abroad in Lyon, France (2018-2019), which motivated students to persevere in their studies.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to, first, establish what students already know and compare it to the exam board to identify any specific subjects that need extra work. I'd like to get to know their strengths and weaknesses, as well as have open discussions about the subject at hand and understand their approach and mindset when studying. I will be setting homework and use resources during class to have engaging and stimulating lessons.
