I emphasize the practice and development of key skills such as circumlocution, everyday language (idioms, slang, conversation), and 'language upgrades' (improving formality and authenticity).
Lessons can be structured as as any of the below, or custom depending on students' needs.
- Book Clubs (reading news articles, literature, poetry, listening to music): heavily conversation- and presentation-centered and can require some additional time outside of class to engage in content. This is a good lesson plan for learners looking to develop their fluidity, speed, or content while speaking.
- Pen Pals (writing in letter and email format, reading classic French literature, formal and informal conversation, spelling and grammar practice): good structure for students looking to work on their writing skills.
- Culture Chat (watching newscasts, YouTube videos, reading contemporary fiction, exploring art and current events): good for students interested in learning about a diverse range of Francophone cultures and practicing expressing opinions in conversation.
- AP Prep: a combination of all the lesson plans above, working on key skills for preparation for the AP French Exam - including everything from Cultural Comparisons to Emails. Multiple Choice and Free Response review included.
- Grand Concours prep: a combination of all the lesson plans above, working on key skills for preparation for the Grand Concours Exam - including writing, reading, grammar, interpretation, and inference skills.
