About Sandy
I'm currently a third-year Law student at Curtin University. I've taken French extensively for the last 5 years, and have studied and lived in French-speaking Belgium. I speak to C1 level, and am keen to take on some more tutoring work for students in Year 11/12.

My lesson plans are structured off of the WACE syllabus. While this provides a broad range of possible subjects, in order to ensure my lessons are cost-effective for parents and/or students I tend to focus on the more conceptually difficult areas such as conditional and subjunctive tenses, as well as conjugation. It is all too common for students to learn these concepts at different rates - and if left behind in the classroom it can become almost impossible to catch up. I find that one-on-one focus in these areas is invaluable for students - allowing them to digest these concepts at their own pace and in terms tailored to ensure it is explained to them in a way they understand.
I also like to gear my lessons towards giving my students practice in speaking and oral comprehension; something that is rarely seen to in the classroom. In terms of the WACE exams, this is where students often experience difficulty. It is all too common to see a significant mismatch between a student's reading and writing ability, and their ability to speak and comprehend spoken French - simply because they are unlikely to be exposed to situations requiring them to do so on a regular basis.
I also think that getting students to actually speak French is how they are most likely to foster a genuine enjoyment of the language, which can provide invaluable in exam time. Encouraging the student to read French books or watch movies in French allows their comprehensive skills to grow exponentially, and this is something I encourage all my students to do. I have a large number of French language books/movies aimed at young adults (of varying degrees of difficulty), which I am more than happy to loan to students at no extra cost. This includes bilingual books (French/English) specifically targeted at learners.
If you are interested in my tutoring services, feel free to contact me on (concealed information). I charge $25/hr, and am happy to drive to all locations SOR Perth.
