About Mia

Although my main focus is on helping students improve their French language skills, my experience in French Immersion and as a general tutor enables me to guide students in all areas of their education. My International Baccalaureate education also taught me the importance of cohesion and organization across areas of learning, which I hope to help students with. My passions include The Arts, History and Literature, but I am also highly accomplished in Mathematics (Applications and Interpretation) and fairly knowledgeable in Science. My skills lie in working with students to find their optimal learning environment and method. Rather than imposing a rigid system upon them, we find a routine that works for both the student and parents, while pushing the student to reach their potential. I am able to tailor lessons to particular areas that need attention, or work through a syllabus week by week, depending on the needs of the family.

About the lesson

I performed to a high level in French Immersion between grades 7 and 9, after which I spent a further 3 years studying French B in the International Baccalaureate Program, while tutoring in French. I tailor my lessons to suit each family and student, so my lessons can last between one and two hours, up to three times a week. My experience lies in tutoring ages 11-16, but I am eager for opportunities to expand this. As well as helping the student reach their potential, I also focus on alleviating stress and workload for parents. This includes communicating with teachers, tracking assessment progress and ensuring deadlines are met. I work closely with both the student and parents to tailor my methods to best suit the student, as all young minds obtain and retain knowledge best through different ways. I also have extensive experience tutoring children with ADHD, and am well versed in the additional challenges this can present for students and parents.
