About Alice

Hi everyone! I'm a French and Spanish student in my fourth year at King's College London and I have just come back from living in France and Spain on my year abroad. I studied French, Spanish and History at A level and received A*s in all three subjects in addition to 11 A*s and 1 A at GCSE. I have almost three years experience tutoring French and Spanish and I am happy to tutor from beginner to advanced level in addition to GCSE and A level students on both language skills and exam technique.
I have been tutoring French and Spanish for over two years and in Summer 2019, I volunteered at an English immersion camp in Spain where I helped children from age 4 to 12 practice their English skills. I am also learning Catalan from scratch at university so I am well aware of the challenges and the nerves that come with learning a new language.
In my free time I love to play hockey and sail. I have been a sailing instructor for the past 6 years and regularly teach children from age 7 to 16 how to sail. I make the day enjoyable and interesting whilst making sure they learn all the important information.

About the lesson

If you have any particular goals or focuses you want to achieve from tutoring, please let me know and we can work together to focus on achieving these objectives, be it speaking practice, more confidence, or a better understanding of grammar.

I would start off teaching the basics if necessary and quickly revise the essentials. I would focus on the four main areas of learning a language; speaking, listening, reading and writing. This would be through resources such as worksheets and fun activities such as games or quizzes. As a languages student, I understand how scary learning a new language can be. As a result, I would be encouraging and make you feel as comfortable as possible in speaking in a foreign language.

I have around 6 years teaching sailing to children aged 7 to 16 where I taught them theory in additional to practical skills. As a result, I have plenty of experience in keeping students entertained and interested in the material in front of them! I am a firm believer in making lessons as enjoyable as possible through fun activities, games and quizzes. Languages are so versatile that it is easy to match them to your interests and learn something new every time!

I can also offer mini vocab quizzes at the start of each lesson or set homework to go over in the following week if this is something you are looking for so just let me know!
