About Faith
Hello, I'm Faith! I'm a motivated and enthusiastic astronomer and physicist, keen to share my love of the universe and the experience I've gained over the years. I am an approachable and patient person who enjoys seeing students succeed in the things they care about, and I always aim to tailor my sessions to what my students both need and want.
I graduated from the University of Warwick in 2024 with a PhD in astronomy, where I was using data from NASA's TESS mission satellite to find new planets outside of the Solar system ('exoplanets'). I was then a telescope operator and project manager for NGTS, an array in northern Chile, for about a year afterwards. I currently work as a physics technician and astronomy specialist for a prestigious independent school. I am also a Civilian Instructor for the RAF Air Cadets, where I mostly help to run space and STEM-related activities.
I have picked up teaching and tutoring experience along the way and have worked with a wide range of learners, from previous tutoring experience post-Master's degree, to running outreach events and observing nights, astronomy clubs and societies, and giving talks to specialist conferences and the general public. I am fully DBS checked and hold qualifications in emergency first aid and safeguarding young people.
Outside of work, I play the bass guitar and drums, and I love nothing more than a good iced coffee and playing with my kitten, Dottie!

I primarily teach online, using a variety of aids, demonstrations, discussions and games to not only help you learn with confidence, but foster an interest in space and science in general, and make the learning experience as enjoyable as it can be!
I also have occasional access to a university-grade teaching telescope for general interest and demonstrations of real-world astronomy, helping you to visualise complex ideas and making learning more hands-on.
I am also able to help with comprehensive exam preparation, marking of practice papers and analysis of results to help identify core areas for improvement.
I am currently taking students for GCSE Astronomy and anyone who has a general interest in space science, and I am always available for questions outside of teaching time. I am also able to take students for GCSE Maths and Physics if needed.
