About Reuben

Hi! My name's Reuben and I'm a professional drummer, composer & producer born and raised in London.

Here are some things about me:

> I’ve been playing drums for nearly 25 years and no one has asked me to stop (except, occasionally, the neighbours).

> I have a Masters (with distinction) in Jazz performance & composition from the Guildhall School, but I love to play and teach everything from Folk to Drum & Bass.

> I'm an experienced and dedicated teacher, passionate about sharing my love of music and helping my students achieve their musical dreams.

About the lesson

Everyone learns differently and has unique musical goals - no two musical journeys are the same, but all are equally valid and exciting!

From the first lesson we'll discuss what you'd like to achieve on the drums and the steps we'll take to get there. We'll work out how you learn best and I'll adapt my teaching style to your needs.

Whether you'd like to race through the grade syllabus, join a band or just try something new, we'll develop a learning plan that works for you. We'll check in every week about how things are going and update our plan whenever your goals shift or expand.

I strongly believe that music is for everyone and I'm particularly keen to meet people who are excited to learn drums but who don't feel that they fit the 'typical' image of a drummer. I'm very happy to discuss any special learning or access needs ahead of our first lesson.

I can offer lessons at my studio in Hackney, at your home (if you have a drum kit) or online.
