About York
I am a passionate Saxophone tutor with 3 years of experience, and I have successfully taught around 150 students at various learning levels. I enjoy helping students build strong basics and play music with expression.
My tutoring approach focuses on clear fundamentals and expressive playing. I guide students through proper posture, breathing, tone control, and finger movement. Along with technique, I teach phrasing, dynamics, and musical expression.
Lessons include exercises, scales, song interpretation, and listening practice. I adapt lessons to match student interests and learning pace.
My unique skill is my ability to help students play with feeling and confidence, not just accuracy. My goal is to help students enjoy expressing themselves through the saxophone.

My saxophone teaching methodology emphasises flexibility, collaboration, and positivity. I recognise that each student has a unique way of learning, so I design lessons tailored to their pace, style, and goals—using demonstration, auditory exercises, and hands-on practice.
Flexibility ensures lessons are adapted based on progress, interests, and motivation, keeping learning enjoyable and effective. Collaboration encourages students to actively participate, experiment with improvisation, and contribute ideas, building creativity, confidence, and technical skill.
I foster a positive and supportive environment where mistakes are embraced and achievements are celebrated. Lessons cover saxophone technique, improvisation, musical expression, performance skills, and theory, creating a comprehensive musical foundation.
Beyond saxophone, I teach complementary subjects such as ensemble performance, sight-reading, ear training, and music theory. My goal is to help students become expressive, confident musicians with a lifelong love of music.
