About Sophie

I have an upper second class degree in Modern and Medieval Languages (French and Spanish) from the University of Cambridge and have also completed a year’s Erasmus study placement at the Sorbonne in Paris, working exclusively in French target language. I am passionate about language learning for all and believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy learning a language. I have a strong academic track record and am patient, kind and approachable. I have worked as an au-pair in France and have tutored in French and English as a second language. In my spare time I enjoy outdoor pursuits, swimming and impressionist art.

About the lesson

As a recent Cambridge graduate in Modern Languages (French and Spanish), I understand the demands of the GCSE, A-level and Common Entrance curricula, as well as the pressures facing students seeking to catch up academically after the pandemic. A few sessions of personally tailored one-to-one tuition really can make a huge difference to your child's confidence and understanding of the subject. After an initial free first session, I will create an individual programme of study for your child, targeting key areas where additional support is needed and working with them to develop their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. I aim to ensure that your child really enjoys their lessons, makes good progress and achieves their goals. As a recent Cambridge graduate, I am able to offer tips, tricks and advice to further enhance your child's language learning experience. I am also able to share my experience of making a successful application to Cambridge with students who are themselves considering making an application. Language learning is fun! I am a kind, patient and enthusiastic tutor and really enjoy my work. I offer both longer term and short term, ad hoc summer holiday tuition. Evening and weekend tuition are both available. I offer an initial free session to give me the chance to listen to you and to learn more about your specific language learning requirements. Do get in touch; I look forward to hearing from you!
