About Ahana
Hello!
My name is Ahana and I'm a young creative with a life-long love for language. I learned French, Spanish, Latin and Sanskrit at school, giving me a solid linguistic foundation which I still apply to all my language-learning today.
I have continued to hone my Spanish abilities through consistent self-study and language immersion, and I love to help other Spanish learners progress on their journey with this beautiful language.
Aside from being a language fanatic, I'm a musician and writer, often writing music in foreign languages.

My lessons are completely tailored to the specific needs of the student. I offer a free 45-minute trial session to guage your level and discuss what you are looking to gain from lessons. I'll ask about what you find tricky, what comes to you more easily, which elements you might like to focus on (conversation, listening comprehension, vocabulary etc.) and also whether you have any particular preferences in learning style. If we both feel we are a good fit, we can go ahead and schedule a full lesson :)
Some students just want help with the speaking component of their exams, some want to supplement school work with more advanced study, some want to go over work they covered at school and clarify parts that don't make sense, and some require a much more holistic scheme of learning that covers all areas. I'm very flexible and able to cater to whatever the needs may be.
I'm a walking example of how exposure is the key to language absorption, having picked up most of my Spanish from films, music, articles and other media online. I regularly make relevant media recommendations to my students so that they can engage with the language outside of an academic setting. I find that when given opportunities to apply their learning to content and media that is more relevant to their own lives, the sense of achievement is often far greater than if they simply get a high grade. Learning a second language, even to GCSE, gives you access to an entirely new world of information, art and culture, and integrating your language skills with your own personal interests in the real world is extremely gratifying.
While academic improvement is at the core of my teaching, I also wish for students to enjoy the process as much as possible. Progress comes from taking risks and so mistakes are welcomed, indeed encouraged. I have buckets of patience and understanding and am accustomed to working with students who have dyslexia and ADHD. My sessions offer a space for all students to practice and improve without being judged. Whether or not students are working towards exams, the ultimate goal is to build up their confidence in their abilities. We do this by filling in the gaps and solidifying the linguistic foundation so that they may more freely manipulate a foreign language and fulfill their academic potential.
My Experience:
While doing my A Levels in 2020 (I took French, Spanish and Environmental Science), I began to tutor Spanish to Key Stage 2 students online. I have always enjoyed working with young people (having done regular babysitting and nannying for over 7 years), and combining this with my passion for language has been a real privilege.
Since finishing my A Levels I have continued to maintain and build upon my level of Spanish and am confident tutoring students up to GCSE. I currently teach a Year 11 student and am seeking more students aged 10-16 who would like to feel more secure in their Spanish abilities and maybe even find the joy in learning a language!
It is worth noting that I have actually taken the current GCSEs and am therefore extremely familiar with the curriculum and all that's required of students to get top marks.

Ahana was fun and engaging with my teenage daughter teaching Spanish. She was reliable and helped to explain and steer her with her learning.
