About Ella

Hi! I’m Ella, a first-year medical student at UCL offering maths and science tuition for students in Year 3 to Year 11. I completed my GCSEs in 2023 with 9s & 8s in maths and the sciences, and went on to study Chemistry, Biology, Economics, and AS Maths at A-Level. I know how challenging science can feel in lower secondary school—I used to find it tricky myself! But after developing a real passion for the subjects and experimenting with different study techniques, I saw my grades improve dramatically. I’d love to help other students find that same confidence. I have over 150 hours of experience tutoring students for the 11+ and Years 7–11, and I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs. In my spare time, I enjoy ballet and baking, which help me bring patience and creativity to my teaching. If you’d like a tutor who understands the ups and downs of learning and can help you reach your goals, I’d be happy to help!

About the lesson

I understand that the 11+ does not test what is usually taught in primary schools and new skills may have to be used for the non-verbal and reasoning tests. Having undergone the 11+ myself, I am sure I will be able to assist your child in developing their skills for the test as I was accepted into all the grammar schools in my area and on the waitlist for one. For each of the assessed subjects, I will help your child identify their weaknesses and target them by guiding them on question approach and practice. I am open to teaching Year 3-5 in preparation for their exam when they are in Year 6. If you wish to have tutoring in 1 subject I recommend 1 hour/week but if you wish to have tutoring in multiple subjects, a couple sessions per week may be necessary depending on the level of confidence and ability your child has since it is easy for skills to weaken without regular practice.
