As a camp counselor, I am great with kids, and I think the most effective way of learning is to foster an intrinsic interest within the student. A tutors job should not be to watch while a student does their work, but instead discuss the fundamentals of the concept, as this discussion is suppressed in class and can be extremely fruitful.
