About Esther

My name is Esther, and I am a native German speaker with a strong interest in language, communication, and effective learning methods.

In addition to teaching German, I have personal experience of learning a foreign language as an adult. I learnt English in school but found that traditional classroom methods did not always support confidence or natural communication. It was only later, while travelling and living in Australia, that I learnt English in a more practical and intuitive way. Through everyday conversations and real-life situations, I was able to overcome my difficulties with the language and develop a genuine enjoyment of using it.

This experience strongly influences how I teach. I understand how frustrating language learning can feel when it is overly rigid or theoretical, and I aim to make lessons clear, supportive, and relevant to real life. My focus is on helping students build confidence as well as a solid understanding of the language.

I have now been living in the UK for over five years, using English daily in both professional and personal settings. This allows me to clearly understand the challenges English speakers face when learning German and to explain concepts in a relatable and effective way.

I work with adult beginners and intermediate learners and take pride in offering well-structured, reliable, and professional lessons in a supportive learning environment.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is based on the belief that confidence, enjoyment, and real-life relevance are essential for successful language learning. I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable speaking German from the very beginning, without pressure or fear of making mistakes.

I offer two main lesson formats, depending on the student’s goals and learning preferences.

Walk & Talk Conversation Lessons
These sessions focus entirely on speaking and listening skills through natural, everyday conversation. Grammar is not the main focus; instead, the emphasis is on communication, pronunciation, and fluency. New words and expressions are introduced in context and practised immediately in real-life situations.

This format reflects how I personally learned English as an adult. By focusing on everyday life, using new vocabulary in context, and practising regularly through conversation, I was able to improve my English quickly and confidently. I now apply this same practical approach to help students become more comfortable and natural when speaking German.

Beginner German Lessons (Structured & Stress-Free)
For beginners, I offer structured lessons that provide a clear learning path while remaining relaxed and enjoyable. Each lesson includes:

new vocabulary introduced step by step

regular repetition to reinforce learning

One clear grammar topic explained simply and practically

interesting insights into German culture

one German saying or expression each week

Lessons are designed to build steadily on previous knowledge without overwhelming. The pace is adapted to each student, questions are always encouraged, and learning remains light-hearted and motivating — structured, but always stress-free and with a laugh.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and combines speaking, listening, and guided practice. I teach adult beginners and intermediate learners who want to learn German in a practical, confidence-building way, whether for travel, relocation, or personal interest.

My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling motivated, more confident, and genuinely looking forward to the next one.

I also encourage students to take lessons with a partner where possible. Learning together often increases motivation, creates more natural conversation, and encourages regular practice between lessons. Sharing the learning process makes lessons more dynamic and enjoyable, and many students find they stay more consistent when learning with someone else.

For structured lessons, I charge £15 per person for partner sessions (£30 in total). Learning with a partner can be a motivating and enjoyable way to progress together.

The Walk & Talk lessons are designed as a more informal and accessible option, focusing on conversation, confidence, and everyday language rather than structured grammar study. These lessons are charged at £15 per person and are recommended as one-to-one sessions to allow for maximum speaking time and personalised feedback.
