About Sarah

I am a passionate piano tutor with 6 years of experience and a record of successfully teaching around 300 students. My learners include high school students, college learners, and adults, each with unique goals and learning styles. Teaching piano allows me to combine technical guidance with encouragement, helping students develop skill, confidence, and a lasting love for music.

My teaching philosophy is based on strong fundamentals and steady progress. I emphasise posture, hand coordination, finger independence, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, sight-reading, and musical expression. I make sure students understand both the technical and emotional aspects of each piece.

Lessons are structured with warm-ups, technique exercises, theory application, and repertoire practice. I guide students on effective at-home practice to ensure consistent improvement. Many students have performed successfully in recitals, school programmes, and public events, while some have achieved high distinctions in graded music examinations.

My goal is to nurture confident, skilled, and expressive pianists who enjoy music and continue growing throughout their journey.

About the lesson

My piano teaching style combines communication, creativity, flexibility, and steady encouragement. I focus on building strong fundamentals while making lessons enjoyable and meaningful. I explain musical concepts clearly and provide step-by-step demonstrations to avoid confusion. Communication ensures students understand their progress and feel confident asking questions.

Creativity keeps lessons inspiring through improvisation, interpretation practice, and expressive exercises. Flexibility allows me to adapt my teaching methods to match individual learning styles and abilities.

In addition to piano technique, I teach music theory, ear training, rhythm exercises, and basic composition to support complete musicianship. My aim is to nurture skilled, confident pianists who play with both technical accuracy and emotional depth.
