About Wesley

I’m Wes, a Birmingham-based father and self-employed builder with a lifelong interest in maths and problem-solving. My work involves using measurements, angles, ratios and calculations to solve practical problems.

Supporting my son with his maths has reminded me how much I enjoy explaining ideas and helping someone reach that moment when things click. It’s what has encouraged me to start tutoring.

I’m new to professional tutoring, and I bring enthusiasm, practical experience and a willingness to approach a problem in different ways. I want pupils to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their understanding at their own pace.

I offer online maths support for primary pupils, particularly at KS2, helping children build confidence and understand why mathematical methods work.

My approach is patient, practical and adaptable. I break problems into manageable steps and explain concepts in different ways, using everyday examples and visual explanations to find what makes sense to each child.

We’ll start by identifying what your child understands and where they feel stuck, then work through examples together before encouraging independent practice. Lessons can support schoolwork or strengthen foundations in arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages and introductory algebra.

My experience comes from supporting my own child’s learning and using maths throughout my working life in building and installation. Sessions can last 30–60 minutes, depending on your child’s age and needs.
