About Jean
I'm currently a second-year undergraduate at UCL studying Crime and Security Science. I completed my A Levels in England, earning an A* in Maths, and As in Further Maths and Chemistry. Before that, I studied in South Korea where I achieved 8 A*s in CIE IGCSEs, including Maths, Additional Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Since I was a student, I wanted to seek help outside of school and get personalised help from someone that I can reach out to casually without worrying that I would be judged if I asked questions. This led me to receive tutoring, and it helped me a lot. Reflecting on my personal experience, I would now like to be a warm but reliable tutor to help you succeed in your academic journey.

As a UCL student with recent A Level and IGCSE experience, I aim to make lessons clear, supportive, and interactive. I break down difficult topics into manageable steps and adapt my teaching to each student's pace. I first do this by assessing the student's current academic position by discussing it in the first lesson together, attempt a few questions for an informal level test, and create a tailored structured lesson plan based on the student's need. Lessons are typically one hour to two hours long and I cover a range of students from Primary School students up to GCSE and A level students. Although I don't have professional tutoring experience, I have multiple experiences of tutoring from arranging a summer online school programme for my siblings' friends (they were in Year 5-6 back then) to leading peer mentoring sessions while I was in Secondary school to tutor my-age friends or slightly younger students of Year 10-11. Furthermore, during sixth form, I arranged informal tutoring sessions in the boarding house to help Year 9-11 students, and during university, I have been tutoring my two younger brothers with their IGCSE mathematics & chemistry preparation and have been helping the other one with UKMT papers which made him get accepted to a privileged secondary school back in Korea. I focus on building both understanding and confidence, especially for students who may feel overwhelmed or unsure.
