About Leah

I'm someone who simply tries to do right in life, in ways big and small. Children are important to me, and that belief shapes how I approach every lesson.
Before academic results, I believe children need to feel safe, supported, and free to enjoy themselves. Play, safety, and positive experiences form the foundation children need — when that foundation is in place, learning becomes easier.
I want every child I teach to feel that they matter, and that whatever they believe they can achieve is genuinely within reach. I know this might sound like something my younger self would have found overly sentimental. But experience has taught me that mindset shapes outcomes, and that belief and drive take people further than doubt ever does.
I believe anything is possible with the right mindset and effort. My aim is to help build that belief in the children I teach, giving them the confidence and drive to pursue their own sense of purpose. Understanding maths is one part of that journey — and I want to make it a little easier.
I bring nearly four years of tutoring experience to this belief, including managing a tutoring centre with responsibility for student welfare, alongside my ongoing study of Psychology at the University of Bristol.

About the lesson

Patience is central to my tutoring. No child gets it right first time, and I don't expect them to. My focus is finding the specific technique that works for each child, since no two students learn the same way.
My method: explain the concept, work through it together, then the child attempts it independently. This identifies exactly where their understanding breaks down, so we can address it directly.
Lessons run an hour to an hour and a half, depending on the child's attention span. Sessions combine explanation, questioning, and active recall testing.
I have nearly four years of tutoring experience, including managing a tutoring centre and overseeing staff, operations, and student welfare. I'm studying Psychology at the University of Bristol, which informs how I approach learning. I have direct experience teaching children with autism and additional learning needs, and I use real-life examples suited to each child's interests to keep lessons engaging.
I teach Maths from primary level through to GCSE.
