About Rothaa

I hold a BSc in Psychology from the University of Surrey (2:1), an MSc in Clinical Psychology from the University of Bath (Distinction), and an MSc in Neuroscience from King's College London (Distinction). I am currently completing a PhD in Psychology at City St George's, University of London, alongside working as a Grade 6 Lecturer teaching Psychology and Research Methods.

Having progressed through four stages of higher education while also teaching and assessing university students, I understand academic life from both sides. I know what is expected from strong university-level work, from critical thinking and academic writing to research and assessment, but I also understand the challenges students face when trying to meet those expectations.

I am highly organised, analytical and academically driven, while also being patient, approachable and flexible. I enjoy helping students make sense of difficult feedback, organise their ideas and turn something that initially feels overwhelming into a clear and manageable plan.

I am Cambodian and Italian, and English is my third language. I moved to the UK at 12 without speaking English and have since progressed to achieving two Master's Distinctions, doctoral research and university teaching. This gives me a particular understanding of the challenges international students may face when navigating academic English and UK university expectations.

My aim is not to help you improve one assignment, but to help you become a more confident, capable and independent university student.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to what you want to achieve.

Academic Writing & Critical Thinking
We can work on developing clear arguments, critical thinking, essay structure and flow, academic language and effective use of evidence. I can also help you move beyond descriptive writing towards the level of critical analysis expected at university.

Essay Feedback & Assessment Support
You are welcome to send me written work, assessment briefs or lecturer feedback in advance. I can review these before our lesson so that our time is focused on specific areas for improvement. Rather than simply correcting your work, I will explain why something could be strengthened and help you understand how to improve it independently.

Research Methods
I can support you with research methods, particularly qualitative research. This can include developing research questions, understanding methodology and research design, coding and analysis, reflexivity, qualitative assessments and writing up research.

Study Skills & Organisation
We can also develop practical strategies that suit the way you learn, including revision plans, flashcards, academic vocabulary resources, essay-planning frameworks and breaking larger assignments into manageable steps.

Where possible, send me your topic, assessment brief or materials beforehand so I can prepare specifically for you. My aim is to make our sessions focused and productive while helping complex or overwhelming academic work feel clearer, structured and manageable.
