About Gwenaëlle
Hi! I'm an engineering student in the Bachelor of Global Engineering dual program between CentraleSupélec (France) and McGill University (Canada). I speak both English and French, and my experience as an international student has made me open-minded and adaptable, skills I bring into every tutoring session.
Over the past two years, I've taken a wide range of engineering courses covering math, physics, chemistry, computer science, biology, and more, which gave me a strong, well-rounded foundation in all the core sciences. I'm now specializing in Data Science, driven by a real passion for software and computers.
I passed the French Baccalaureate with highest honors, and I've already helped my younger siblings prepare for their own exams, so I know firsthand how much of a difference the right kind of support can make.
Outside of academics, I love reading, climbing, playing guitar, and listening to music.
Whatever your goals are, I'll do my best to help you get there, but more than anything, I want to help you actually enjoy learning. Once you're curious about a subject instead of just studying it, you might surprise yourself with how much you end up liking it.

My approach as a tutor
I focus on math, physics, computer skills, and science (middle school through high school), though I'm happy to help with other subjects if needed. My teaching style adapts to each student and my methodology centers on understanding why, not just memorizing formulas or steps. I find that students who grasp the underlying logic of a math or science concept retain it far longer and can apply it to new problems. I use a lot of real-world examples and analogies to make abstract ideas click, and I regularly check understanding by having students explain concepts back to me in their own words.
A typical lesson
1) Quick check-in: review homework, address any lingering questions from last time
2) Warm-up problem to re-engage with the topic
3) Introduce or reinforce the core concept, with worked examples
4) Guided practice: I watch how the student works through problems and step in only when needed
5) Recap of what we covered and what to focus on before next time
Overall, I am here to help and provide all efforts necessary for my students to succeed. I am open, always listening to the needs, but also capable of finding the blocking point without the students telling me explicitly. I can offer tips to reach the required level or even go further into details for curious students willing to learn more.
