I follow:
Conceptual First: We start by ensuring a deep understanding of the "why" behind the formula or procedure. I use real-world analogies and visual models to make abstract concepts tangible.
Targeted Practice: I use diagnostic questions to quickly identify the student's specific areas of weakness. Practice is then tailored to close those specific gaps rather than relying on generic textbook problems.
Mistake Analysis: I frame mistakes not as failures, but as critical data points. We systematically analyze why an error occurred (e.g., conceptual misunderstanding, calculation error, misreading the question) to prevent recurrence.
Growth Mindset & Confidence Building: For many students, math anxiety is a major barrier. I employ positive reinforcement and break down complex problems into manageable steps to build self-efficacy and a "can-do" attitude.
