About Ben
Hi, I'm Ben - your Business and Accounting teacher. After I qualified as a teacher, I wanted to gain real-world experience. I worked as a Chartered Accountant, first as an auditor at one of the world's biggest professional services firms, EY, and more recently as a Senior Audit Consultant at Lidl's head office here in Dublin. That means when we talk about financial statements, business decisions, or how companies actually work, I'm not just going by the textbook, I've lived it.
But here's the thing: I always knew I wanted to teach. I studied for a degree in Education alongside Business and Accounting at Mary Immaculate College, because I believed that understanding something deeply and being able to explain it clearly are two sides of the same coin. Teaching isn't a plan B for me — it's something I've been working towards for a long time.
Outside the classroom, I've been a competitive swimmer and triathlete. I've represented Leinster at senior level and Ireland at junior level, so I know something about discipline, setting goals, and pushing through when things get hard; lessons that apply just as much to your Leaving Cert as they do to a race.
I'm also an avid reader and writer, which means I take communication seriously; in every subject, being able to express your ideas clearly matters.
I can't wait to get started with you. Business and Accounting open doors: to careers, to understanding the world, and to making smart decisions for your own life. Let's make the most of it together.

Learn from someone who does it for real:
Qualified Accountant (Formally Chartered Accountant) | Qualified Post-Primary Teacher | Former EY Senior Auditor
Most tutors teach from a textbook. I teach from experience. As a formally Chartered Accountant trained at EY, one of the world's Big Four firms, and a state-registered post-primary teacher with classroom experience at Good Counsel College and Presentation Secondary School, I bridge the gap between exam technique and real-world financial practice.
I have audited aircraft-leasing companies worth tens of billions of euros, mentored junior professionals at EY, and prepared students across Leaving Certificate Business and Accounting. That dual identity, practitioner and educator, is what sets my tuition apart.
Every session is structured, purposeful, and tailored to you: your gaps, your exam, your pace.
The Approach
01 | Diagnose First
Every new student starts with an honest assessment of their strengths and gaps; no wasted sessions on content you already know.
02 | Exam-Craft
My dual background means I teach you to think like both an accountant and an examiner; structuring answers that score marks, not just show knowledge.
03 | Real-World Anchoring
Theory is always grounded in real examples from business and finance, making abstract concepts memorable, and keeping students genuinely engaged.
04 | Consistent Progress Tracking
Regular mini-assessments and honest feedback ensure you're always moving forward, and parents are kept in the loop.
05 | Pastoral Sensitivity
With experience as a peer mentor and exam scribe, I understand that academic pressure is real. Sessions are structured but supportive, never intimidating.
