About Adam
My name is Adam and I am a qualified maths teacher from London, UK. I have always really enjoyed mathematics because I find problem solving so fun and I feel mathematics is the subject that has always really allowed me to do that. I make sure my enjoyment of mathematics is demonstrated in my lessons and tutoring sessions, as I believe this is the best way for students to learn. I aim to stretch and challenge all my students, whilst providing the support needed for students to succeed. I understand that mathematics isn't one size fits all. Some students will want my help to push for the highest marks possible, some students will want to close gaps in their learning or make sure they can secure a certain grade or pass, and some students will just want to feel more confident in maths. I understand that whilst these students have different wants and needs, they are united by a desire to succeed and do well. I understand and respect this no matter the level/background of the student, and I truly believe this is reflected in my teaching.

My approach to teaching mathematics, especially in a 1 on 1 scenario or to small groups, is to set challenging yet achievable goals. I do this by assessing student ability (not through tests but over the course of lessons) and tailoring lessons and assistance based on this. However, goals can sometimes put a limit on how far a student can be stretched, and so these goals are flexible and I will never stop a student from wanting to learn about or practise more challenging topics just because of the difficulty level. I believe first and foremost that a love of learning is what leads to commitment, especially for exam years. My typical lesson length is 50 mins-1 hour. I have a UK Teaching Qualification in mathematics, and I have 3 years' experience teaching maths in UK high schools, including GCSE and A-Level. This means I have worked with groups of up to 30+ students, as well as tutoring 1 on 1. I also have experience doing 1 on 1 tutoring with primary school students. This has given me experience working with all kinds of students, allowing me to address specific needs and support or stretch pupils as required. My lessons are mainly geared towards GCSE or IGCSE (Foundation/Higher) Mathematics and A-Level Mathematics, 14+ for international students. However, I am open to teaching lower year groups upon request and for the right students.
