About Ruby
I am 21 years old living in Essex. Abit of back story-when I was a kid roughly aged 8 I had a very traumatic experience in a swimming pool I actually got held under water to the point I could no longer breathe. As I was so young when this happened family members did not want me to have a fear of swimming when growing up so they got me straight into lessons to boost my confidence back up and to not be afraid. A very special person in my life(my granddad) took me swimming lessons every Friday night at my local pool he went with me every single time, on holidays would wake me up for a early morning swim, which lead to the point of me actually loving swimming and forgetting all about my past trauma.As I become an adult my life has been all over the place.. I never knew what job I wanted to do I kept finding new places and leaving months later as I knew it wasn’t for me. My grandad reminded meof how much I enjoyed swimming and I can make a career out of one of my hobbies. So Itook his advice and got myself a job as an assistant I then went on to do courses as I knew I wanted to be a teacher myself. I booked in for my course for my level 1 and 2 teaching qualification and went away for a week to really knuckle down and complete this. As soon as I finished and found out I passed everything I came back home to tell my family the good news. I was absolutely heartbroken to find out the person who helped me purse my goals and got me to where I am today had passed away on the day I found out I passed my exams to become a teacher.. without my grandad I would not be where I am today and I take that with me on my journey everyday it motivates me to keep going and to also now help others like he helped me.

I love being able to help people achieve their goals. Swimming is not just a sport or just having a splash around, it can actually save lives ! And is a fun way to keep fit. I also help with things such as traumatic experiences, fears, wanting to get back into swimming or just simply never have been and want to give it a go! Fun fact- swimming actually helps relax your muscles and reduces stress, it has so many great benefits suitable for everyone..
