About Ben
I am a highly qualified and highly experienced teacher of physics, chemistry, mathematics and engineering. I hold a Master of Physics qualification, a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status, and I have worked as a fully qualified teacher for almost 10 years in which time I have worked as a teacher for GCSE and A Level courses across all English exam boards, as a Head of Department and Senior Leader, and a trainer of PGCE students, NQTs and fellow experienced teachers, including with several Universities to support their PGCE programs. In addition, I have 3 years experience working as a private tutor for students on GCSE, iGCSE, A Level and degree courses. In all my roles I have a proven track record of success and I have been shown to improve outcomes for my students, helping in securing places at leading Universities such as Oxbridge and competitive courses such as Medicine. I also have a record of Continuous Professional Development which includes notable accolades such as completing the Outstanding Teacher Development Program led by the National College of School Leadership, and I have been nominated for a Pearson Teacher of the Year award.
I am passionate about my subject, and I am passionate about the role education can play in social mobility and improving the life chances of my students. I am committed to providing the best quality of education possible for all learners, and this is something I am confident I can deliver for each and every student. Through expert knowledge of my subject, of pedagogy and teaching methods, of the needs of different learners and awareness of the most effective strategies to meet them, and of the assessment requirements for examinations, what examiners look for, and common mistakes students make I feel I can offer an outstanding service for students. Over the past decade I have gained extensive experience teaching students across the full range of abilities and in a variety of contexts using many different teaching styles and methods. In addition to this, in my role as a trainer of teachers I have studied, taught and assessed across all the main pedagogical approaches. Because of this, I am confident in my ability to adeptly pick the most appropriate teaching method for each and every one of my students to fully maximize their potential, rather than sticking to one single approach.
