About Kara
I am a dedicated and passionate Spanish educator from Macon, Georgia, with a strong academic background and five years of classroom teaching experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature and a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Social Emotional Learning, Mindfulness, and Yoga. This combination allows me to support not only students’ academic growth, but also their confidence, motivation, and overall well-being as learners. I have spent the past five years teaching middle and high school students, where I have developed effective, age-appropriate strategies for engaging learners at different levels and learning styles. As a non-native Spanish speaker, I bring empathy and clarity to my instruction, helping students navigate challenges in a supportive and encouraging environment. In addition to my academic and teaching experience, I am well traveled and have spent time in several Spanish-speaking countries, including Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Spain. These experiences allow me to bring authentic language use, cultural insights, and real-world context into my lessons. I am committed to professionalism, thoughtful instruction, and creating a safe, respectful space where students feel empowered to grow and succeed in their Spanish learning journey.

My approach as a Spanish tutor is student-centered, flexible, and built on real communication. Because Spanish is my second language, I teach with an understanding of the challenges learners face and emphasize clear explanations, repetition, and practical use. I use a variety of techniques including guided conversation, vocabulary building, grammar instruction, listening exercises, and writing practice to help students develop confidence and retain what they learn.
A typical lesson begins with a brief conversational warm-up to reinforce speaking skills, followed by targeted vocabulary practice and a focused grammar lesson. Lessons often include listening activities and applied practice, and they are always adapted to the student’s goals, whether that’s preparing for a test, strengthening a specific concept, or building overall fluency.
What sets me apart is my experience teaching Spanish I, II, and III for the past five years and my ability to break down complex concepts into manageable, understandable steps. I prioritize creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning at their own pace.
My lessons are ideal for middle and high school students, beginner to intermediate learners, and anyone enrolled in Spanish courses who wants additional support, enrichment, or confidence-building practice.
