About Ichirin

I am a native Japanese speaker who was born and raised in Tokyo, surrounded by the fast-paced, exciting daily life of the capital. Right now, I'm living in Perth, finishing up my final year of Data Science at the University of Western Australia (UWA).

Because I had to learn English to move and study abroad, I completely relate to how intimidating it can feel to speak a foreign language at first! I have plenty of experience with online tutoring, and my goal isn't to lecture you or stress you out with strict grammar rules. Instead, I offer a super relaxed, chill environment where making mistakes is completely okay. Think of our lessons less like a formal classroom and more like a fun coffee chat with a supportive friend who happens to be a native speaker.

About the lesson

Learning a new language can be intimidating, but my main rule is simple: never feel embarrassed in my lessons! As someone who has mastered a second language, I completely relate to how difficult it is to start from scratch. If you ever find yourself stuck or thinking, "I don't know how to say this in Japanese," don't worry at all—I am fully proficient in English and ready to explain any concept to you clearly.

How We Learn: Free Conversation Style
My classes are basically driven by natural, comfortable communication. We use a flexible conversational style blending Japanese and English, completely tailored to your comfort level. Whether you need a 9:1 English-to-Japanese ratio to get your feet wet, or a 0:10 ratio for full immersion, we will adjust the balance to whatever works best for you.

I welcome students of absolutely all skill levels:

Absolute Beginners: Just started learning Japanese five minutes ago? No problem! We will start with the fun basics at your own pace.

Advanced Experts: Already fluent but want to keep your skills sharp? You are incredibly welcome! We can dive into complex, high-level discussions.
