About Gabriel
Hi! I'm Gabriel, and I strongly believe that learning is at its best when you can trust the person who's teaching you.
To tell you more about myself academically, I'm a first year student at the University of Edinburgh, and a graduate of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. I achieved a score of 43 out of 45, placing me in the top 8% of this academically rigorous course globally. I achieved the highest possible mark band for my English, Geography, French, and Mathematics courses, as well as excellent scores in History and Physics. I am fluently trilingual, and enjoy teaching in all three languages (English, French, and Spanish). My experience in tutoring is based around language teaching (I was part of my school's Language Learning and Teaching Network), as well as having experience teaching concepts in History, Physics, and Maths.
My focus whenever I teach anyone a concept is ensuring the learner feels included, heard, and part of a conversation instead of a lecture. I always encourage asking questions, and believe making mistakes are an essential part of learning. I also encourage students brining their own experiences and knowledge into a discussion to try and make interdisciplinary connections, a strong tool for better digesting sometimes challenging concepts.
On the personal side of things, I have a friendly and outgoing personality. I've lived in Switzerland, Mexico, the USA, and Qatar, so I love learning about people from all over the world, and absolutely adore traveling. I'm a big football fan, as well as loving all kinds of music, and I'm always available for a chat.
