About Sarah
Well I'm Sarah!
I have a PhD in organic chemistry. This means I spent 4 years completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Otago. I then went on and spent another 4 years doing my post-grad studies at the University of Adelaide.
Over the years I have been tutored a lot AND I have taught over 30 different students myself. I have taught students wanting to get into Medical school at Otago, for the Disabilities office, and have helped students with passing their courses!

I am passionate that one-on-one sessions are the BEST way for tricky and important ideas to be taught.
My teaching style focuses on ME showing/teaching you. ie I will write notes and show YOU how to answer questions. This means the student is not rushing to make notes and I expect the student to just listen and take in the information and engage with my questions/make suggestions. I will then provide all the content to the student.
For the session it can EITHER be;
1) Q&A style
- good if you have lots of things you want answered
- this is best if you are familiar with most concepts in your course
2) one-on-one lecture style
- before the session, I can prepare to teach YOUR curriculum
- this is best if you have no idea what your teacher/lecturer was talking about and you don't know what you need to know
- we will take as much time as we need for you to understand the content. Either in this session or a follow up we can then apply this knowledge to exam-style questions.
This is just a general approach and happy to go with the flow and teach as needed.
