About Dorsey

I am sure to let my student know that I started French in fourth grade and loved it, continuing through high school, college, MA in NYU and a year at the Sorbonne in Paris, where we spoke only French, no English, not even with our roommates! My French accent is near perfect and I have fun tricks to show how my students can sound French, too! And great techniques for remembering the words and grammar.

About the lesson

I love French and have spent my life tutoring and teaching it. I make it easy and fun to learn by taking a student, of any level, from where they are to where they want to go. I taught French and Latin for ten years in Chappaqua NY and spent a year with Smith College in Paris speaking only French, so I am fluent.

I start a lesson with a review of our last lesson, always with encouragement, and gradually introduce the next lesson, making certain that the student has repeated everything and understands all the words and the grammar. If there are connections to English words, I point out roots and derivations. Most of all, I compliment their progress, so they will want to work ever harder.
