About Janis

I’m a qualified maths teacher with experience in both Functional Skills and Further Education, currently working at Manchester College. I’m passionate about helping learners truly understand mathematical concepts rather than just memorising procedures. I believe everyone can learn maths and there is no such thing as maths person!

About the lesson

My lessons focus on deep understanding rather than rote memorisation. Instead of just remembering formulae, you’ll learn where they come from, why they work, and how to apply them flexibly across different problems. This builds confidence, reduces exam stress, and helps you tackle unfamiliar questions with logic rather than guesswork.
