About Dr June
I am an award-winning Ontario-certified educator with more than 3 decades of experience in learning and formal schooling (K-University) in Ontario. I hold an MA and a PhD in teacher development from OISE/UT with a focus on assessment, formative feedback, motivation, and growth mindset for learning --en francais! With 17 years of successful public school teaching in three divisions for two school boards in Ontario, I know how to help you be successful in laying the foundation for a long and successful career in FSL teaching. But first things first: secure a permanent teaching contract!
My early years up to Grade 6 were spent in 3 Franco-Ontarian communities’ English schools. I am an Anglophone who has gained level C1 proficiency through practice, study, and travel, and I'm a product of the FSL system in northern Ontario. As a primary student, I learned French stories and vocabulary by heart through repeated practice. Outside of the classroom, I learned skipping rhymes in French in my best friend's driveway; they were francophone. From these bilingual communities, I learned that French was “real,” that people really lived, worked (and played) en français. Since then I've traveled widely in France and Québec, and I am taking the DALF in December.
