About Kaiwen
Hi, I’m Dr. Kaiwen, a medical doctor based in Melbourne with a strong passion for teaching and mentoring students to achieve their academic potential.
I completed my medical training at the University of Melbourne. Alongside clinical medicine, I am heavily involved in medical research and academic publishing, regularly presenting my work at international conferences and contributing to peer-reviewed publications in radiology and medical science. My academic career has been recognized through several research awards and scholarships.
Teaching has always been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. Throughout medical school and my professional training, I have consistently mentored and tutored students in science, biology, chemistry, and academic study strategies, helping them build both deep conceptual understanding and strong exam technique.
My tutoring approach focuses on three core principles:
1. Understanding over memorization
I emphasize breaking down complex concepts into intuitive frameworks so students truly understand the material rather than simply memorizing facts.
2. Exam performance strategies
Success in competitive academic environments requires more than knowledge alone. I teach structured problem-solving techniques, exam strategy, and time-management skills that translate directly into better performance.
3. Confidence and independent thinking
My goal is not just to improve grades but to help students develop the confidence and analytical thinking skills needed for long-term academic success.
Having worked in high-performance academic environments such as medicine and research, I understand the demands placed on students striving for top results. I aim to provide structured, supportive tutoring that helps students excel academically while developing strong study habits and intellectual curiosity.
Outside of medicine, I have competed internationally in the Pokemon Trading Card Game, winning the World Championships in my youth, and trained extensively in music, experiences that have reinforced the importance of discipline, resilience, and deliberate practice—principles I bring into my teaching.
I welcome students who are motivated to improve, whether they are aiming to strengthen their fundamentals, prepare for exams, or push for top-tier academic results.

Through a student-focused approach, I offer 60-minute lessons that allow you to have personalized coaching/tutoring regarding all aspects of your medical admission needs from admissions guidance, to GAMSAT help in any section, to medical interview tutoring. I can also help you in your university studies to get up to speed with any class pertaining to Biology in the Bachelor of Biomedicine or Bachelor of Science stream.
