About Matt
I am an A* gap year mathematics student, having given tutoring for 2 years, in physics and mathematics, to both GCSE and A-Level students. I have taught 4 students, all having exceeded their aspirational grades in their subjects. After being accepted into Cambridge University for mathematics and attaining a 1 and an S in my STEP exams, I am pursuing a gap year in which to try my hand at more practical and applied skills, including tutoring.

I am comfortable giving GCSE, A-Level, and STEP tuition, being proficient in the subject up to that level and having recently tackled the examinations myself. My technique for tuition is very thorough, and avoids the drudgery of school-style teaching by providing an intuitive basis for many of the theories and methods in mathematics and physics. From here, I consolidate the basics with practice, followed by supervised extensions, to allow my students to explore how their learning can be applied further or even reinterpreted to unfamiliar questions. This is a vital preparation for examinations, where there are likely to be questions where the method is not necessarily clear and the students must adapt a skill to the question at hand.

Perfect! Really patient and gives lots of ways to understand if you don’t get it the first time around!
- Olivia is a capable student, with a wealth of knowledge and ability, making our lessons smooth and enjoyable. She is also very honest regarding her limitations, which allows us to tackle those areas particularly. Matched with this is her evident self-motivation and individual effort. When put in an environment where she is comfortable to make mistakes and ask for help, she flourishes.Matt's response :
