About Krish Charan
I have only recently completed my own GCSE and A-level examinations — my GCSEs in 2024 and my A-levels in 2026 — so I have a very up-to-date understanding of the current courses, exam styles and what is required to achieve the highest grades. Having achieved these results myself, I can share the approaches, techniques and understanding that helped me succeed and help students work towards replicating those results themselves.
What I offer
I currently tutor GCSE Chemistry and Physics, as well as A-level Mathematics (Pure, Mechanics & Statistics), Further Mathematics and Chemistry.
I mainly help students in two ways:
1. Building strong foundations and getting ahead:
This is ideal for beginners, students who are struggling with certain topics, or students who want to push ahead of their current syllabus by starting next year's material early. I focus on making the fundamental concepts clear and developing the understanding needed to progress confidently and achieve high grades.
2. Pushing your grade ceiling:
This is aimed at students who expect to sit their exams soon and want to maximise their marks. For highly motivated students targeting the very highest grades, I can provide specific exam techniques, tips and tricks that can help push your ceiling and make a real difference. These can vary significantly depending on the exam board, so please contact me before booking and let me know your exam board and subject.
My qualifications
I achieved Grade 9s in 10 GCSE subjects: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, German, Religious Education, English Literature and FSMQ Additional Mathematics, as well as a Grade 8 in English Language.
I have since achieved 4 A*s at A-level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
For A-level Mathematics, I achieved 96% overall. In Further Mathematics, I scored 99% in each of my Pure 1, Pure 2 and Statistics papers.
I aim to make lessons both rigorous and understandable, while tailoring the level of challenge to each student's goals.

My teaching approach begins with developing a strong conceptual understanding of the underlying theory. Rather than relying on memorised methods or standardised procedures, I encourage students to understand why a method works and when it should be applied. I believe this depth of understanding is essential for tackling the most challenging questions in GCSE and A-level papers, particularly those designed to distinguish the very highest-performing students.
Once the student is confident with the theory, I provide a range of problems to consolidate their understanding. This includes more challenging and unfamiliar questions designed to develop the mathematical and scientific thinking required to approach difficult problems, adapt known concepts to unfamiliar situations, and ultimately achieve the highest marks.
