About Yusuf

I am a high-achieving maths tutor with an A* at GCSE Maths, an A* at A-Level Maths, and a Chemical Engineering degree currently in progress at London South Bank University.

Alongside my studies, I work as a laboratory technician at Element Materials Technology, where precision, accuracy, and problem solving are required daily. This analytical, disciplined approach directly shapes how I teach maths.

I do not teach maths as memorised steps. I teach it as a logical system. This mirrors how GCSE Maths is assessed and is why students who rely on rote methods often struggle under exam pressure.

I specialise exclusively in GCSE Maths, focusing on clear explanations, structured methods, and repeatable techniques students can apply confidently in exams. Lessons are calm, organised, and designed to build genuine understanding rather than short-term fixes.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, methodical, and built around how GCSE Maths is actually examined.

Each lesson follows a clear framework. I start by identifying gaps in understanding and common misconceptions, then rebuild the topic from first principles so the student understands why methods work, not just which steps to copy. This is critical for GCSE success, where marks are awarded for reasoning, structure, and accuracy under time pressure.

I achieved A* grades at both GCSE and A-Level Maths and continue to apply mathematics daily through my Chemical Engineering degree. As a result, I teach maths as a logical system rather than a memorisation exercise. This approach helps students stay calm, recognise patterns, and apply methods correctly even when questions are unfamiliar.

Lessons are typically one hour and planned in advance. They include clear explanations, step by step worked examples, and carefully selected exam style questions. Understanding is checked continuously, and the pace is adjusted so the student is challenged without being overwhelmed. Weak areas are addressed directly and revisited until confidence is secure.

All lessons are tailored to the student’s GCSE specification, current working grade, and target grade. Whether the goal is to secure a pass or push towards higher grades, the teaching approach is adjusted accordingly. Progress is tracked over time so improvements are consistent and measurable.

Paying a premium rate means lessons are planned, focused, and tailored to the individual student. Each session is designed with a clear objective, targeted practice, and measurable progress, not generic worksheets or rushed explanations.

I bring strong academic results in maths, continued mathematical study at university, and a disciplined, analytical approach developed through Chemical Engineering and professional laboratory work. This ensures teaching is precise, logical, and effective, particularly for GCSE exam success.

Lesson packs are offered at a reduced hourly rate for families seeking consistent, long term support. This allows for proper progress tracking, revisiting weak topics, and structured exam preparation.

Although the first lesson is free, we will still jump straight into teaching. The session is used to assess the student’s level while actively covering content, so students gain immediate value and parents can see the quality of teaching from the start.

All online lessons are delivered via webcam at no additional cost.
