About Anfisa

As a Russian immigrant who moved to the UK at a young age, I understand the frustrations surrounding an unfamiliar language. Because I’ve been on both sides of language learning, I’m especially passionate about helping students develop their Russian in a way that feels consistent. I particularly understand the challenges bilingual children can face, whether they’re trying to maintain their Russian at home or improve it for school and exams.

Having recently completed the British school system, I also know exactly what examiners are looking for, meaning I can easily accommodate those with upcoming GCSE/A Levels, having achieved top grades in both

My overall goal is to help people maintain this language, and introduce it to others interested, as seeing my siblings immerse into British culture and lose their Russian inspired me to help others preserve theirs.

About the lesson

Every lesson is tailored to the student’s individual goals. For students focusing on test prep, I would focus on exam technique, essay writing, translation, and speaking practice. I’ll share the essay structures and revision methods that helped me achieve an A* in A-level Russian, and help students create their own essay plans so they can write confidently and independently in the exam. For students learning conversational Russian, immersion is the best method. I would focus on teaching the most useful and transferable vocabulary, helping them understand how a conversation with a native can be smoothly executed. Whether your goal is to pass an exam, become conversational, or build fluency over time, lessons are adapted to your priorities!
