About Shiraz

Hi, I’m a 23-year-old 4th year Dental student with around 7 years of tutoring experience. I originally started tutoring family members and gradually continued teaching more students as I realised how much I enjoyed it.

One of the main reasons I tutor is because I want to give students the academic support and guidance that I sometimes felt I was missing during my own studies. I understand how frustrating it can be when a topic just doesn’t seem to click, so I’m very patient and happy to explain things in different ways until they make sense.

I’d describe myself as a friendly, approachable and patient tutor. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about getting something wrong, while still keeping lessons focused and productive.

I currently offer online tutoring, making lessons easy to fit around school, college and other commitments.

Outside of Dentistry and tutoring, I’m a big football fan and enjoy going to the gym and following combat sports.

About the lesson

I am currently a 4th year Dental Student, giving me a strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry and the wider biomedical sciences. My studies have also helped me develop the ability to break down complex scientific ideas into clear, manageable steps.

My teaching style focuses heavily on understanding rather than memorisation. I first identify where a student is struggling, including any gaps in their foundational knowledge, before building the topic back up step by step.

For example, if a student is struggling with electrolysis, I first check their understanding of ions and ionic bonding, as this is often where the real difficulty lies. Once the foundation is secure, I use clear explanations, diagrams, worked examples and exam-style questions to help them confidently apply the concept themselves.

I can help students with:

* Exam technique and past-paper practice
* Identifying and fixing knowledge gaps
* Building confidence in difficult topics
* Revision planning and preparation

My aim is to make difficult topics feel simple, build genuine understanding and help students become more confident and independent in their studies.
