About Paul

I have a BSc in Mathematics & Computer Science and have continued to use analytical and problem-solving skills throughout my professional career.

I have previous experience coaching Taekwondo to both children and adults, which taught me how important it is to adapt the way something is explained to the individual. Different students learn in different ways, and I bring that same approach to Maths tuition.

I am also a parent of two secondary-school-age children, including one currently in Year 11, so I have a good understanding of the current GCSE environment and the pressures students can face.

I hold an Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce, including a Children's Barred List check.

About the lesson

I offer friendly, structured GCSE Maths tuition, both online and face-to-face.

My approach is based on helping students genuinely understand the mathematics rather than simply memorising methods. We can work through topics from first principles, identify gaps in knowledge, practise worked examples and then apply that understanding to exam-style questions.

I tailor lessons to the individual student, whether the aim is to strengthen core understanding, improve a particular topic, prepare for assessments or work towards a higher GCSE grade.

I am particularly keen to help students who understand much of the course but need support turning that understanding into better exam performance, as well as students who have lost confidence in particular areas of Maths.

Lessons can include topic revision, past-paper practice, exam technique, problem-solving and focused support on difficult areas. I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as this is often where the best learning happens.
