About Mikey
I am an aspiring mathematics teacher currently studying BSc Mathematics at Queen Mary University of London. I achieved an A in A-Level Maths and a Grade 8 at GCSE, and I have always had a genuine passion for the subject. Beyond the curriculum, I enjoy exploring mathematical ideas in greater depth, from problem-solving challenges to understanding the theory and history behind concepts we use in school.
I am particularly interested in helping students see maths not just as a subject to pass, but as a logical way of thinking which can be applied to other subjects, or more simply, day-to-day challenges. My goal is to build confidence, curiosity, and strong foundations that support long-term success.

My approach to tutoring is focused on building understanding first, then reinforcing it through structured exam practice. As a BSc Mathematics student and A grade achiever, I understand both the content and the exam technique required to achieve top grades.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes beginning by reviewing prior knowledge, then working through a key topic with clear explanations and guided examples. I encourage students to explain their thinking, as this strengthens understanding and highlights misconceptions early. We finish with exam-style questions to build confidence and tips to maximise marks.
I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, whether that’s strengthening foundations, targeting weak topics, or improving speed and accuracy under timed conditions.
My lessons are primarily for GCSE students (Years 9–11), including those aiming to secure a pass or push for Grades 7–9. I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in maths.
